Welcome to the Sheepmeat Council of Australia

The Sheepmeat Council of Australia (SCA) is the nation's peak body representing and promoting the national and international interests of lamb and sheepmeat producers in Australia.

Our goal is to deliver lobbying outcomes that enhance the integrity, profitability and sustainability of the Australian Sheepmeat industry.

The Council consists of nine Councillors (sheepmeat producers) who represent each sheep producing state of Australia, and who are supported by a small team of staff based at the National Farmers' Federation (NFF) House in Canberra.

Our support for the livestock export trade

The live sheep trade is an important industry for the nation’s sheepmeat producers and many Australians. It is valued at around $298 million (2009-10) and plays a crucial role in underpinning the economic activity and social wellbeing of many people living in rural and regional communities. Sheepmeat Council is committed to improving the welfare of all animals for livestock export and ensuring the continuation of the livestock export trade.

We encourage you to show support for the Australian sheepmeat industry and contact your local member with a letter, phone call or email today highlighting your support for the live sheep trade. Click here for contact details of your local MP.

Independent Livestock Export Review (Farmer Review)
SCA remain fully supportive of the live trade and the role that MLA and LiveCorp have played and continue to play in the ongoing development and servicing of the MENA Region market. SCA is committed to and involved in the implementation of the changes flagged by the Government for all live export markets.
