URGENT ATTENTION FOR ALL AGENTS
The following message has been sent to livestock agents across Australia. It is a timely reminder. We urge all producers to ‘get the paperwork right”.

Processors have requested we remind agents once again that NVD's must be fully completed and correct in all material aspects: Producers are not getting them right. With some new markets opening around the world for Australian Meat Products it is critical that buyers have a fully completed NVD for audit purposes from these overseas countries.
Some of the main problems on NVD's are listed below.

  • A full description of the stock is not included such as sex and breed.
  • Number of stock not included.
  • Number of head with tags or boluses not filled in but ticked.
  • Consigned to, not fully completed with address.
  • Destination address not fully completed.
  • Declaration not fully filled in with name and address.

Every detail must be filled in on an NVD to make it comply. Some processors will be doing their own audits of NVD's at saleyards and have advised ALPA that some sale centres will lose their attendance and competition if the NVD problem is not addressed. State DPI's will be also issuing notices and or fines to vendors for not completing an NVD in compliance to state legislation. Can you please stress to your vendors the importance of a fully completed NVD to attract full competition on their livestock and that they are part of the food chain. All Sheep PIC numbers on the tags in non vendor bred sheep consignments must be on or attached to the NVD. This is going to be closely monitored by state DPI's and if not being done will lead us to mandatory pink transaction tags or to RFID tags for sheep. All buyers, must give agents the destination PIC of all types of livestock purchased. PLEASE GIVE THIS YOUR URGENT ATTENTION.
